Grammatical Inference<\/span><\/i><\/span>\u00a0is the research area at the intersection of\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Machine Learning<\/span><\/i><\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Formal Language Theory<\/span><\/i><\/span>. Since 1993, the International Conference on Grammatical Inference (ICGI) is the meeting place for presenting, discovering, and discussing the latest research results on the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>foundations of learning languages<\/span><\/i><\/span>, from theoretical and algorithmic perspectives to their applications (natural language or document processing, bioinformatics, model checking and software verification, program synthesis, robotic planning and control, intrusion detection…).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This 16th edition of ICGI will be held in-person in\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Rabat<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span>, the modern capital with deep-rooted history of Morocco located on the Atlantic Coast. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the ICGI conference, the program will include a distinguished lecture by\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Dana Angluin<\/span><\/span><\/a>. The program will also include\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>two invited talks,<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0on recent advances of Grammatical Inference for Natural Language Processing and Bioinformatics by\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Cyril Allauzen<\/span><\/span><\/a>\u00a0(Google NY) and\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Ahmed Elnaggar<\/span><\/span><\/a>\u00a0(TU M\u00fcnchen), a\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>half-day tutorial\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span>at the beginning of the conference on\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>formal languages and neural models for learning on sequences<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0by\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Will Merrill<\/span><\/span><\/a>, as well as oral presentations of accepted papers.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The 16th edition of ICGI will also partner with the\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Transformers+RNN: Algorithms to Yield Simple and Interpretable Representations<\/span><\/span><\/a>\u00a0(TAYSIR) competition, an online challenge on extracting simpler models from already trained neural networks. The conference will include a special session organized by TAYSIR on the presentation of the results of the competition with an opportunity for competitors to present their approach.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
